Microbacter 7

if I am not mistaken, doesn't bacteria require both nitrate and phosphate in order to work effectively? that is why it is always mentioned to stop using GFO if carbon/bacteria method is used to reduce nitrate and phosphate.

according to the neo zeo pdf its perfectly fine to run GFO and carbon. I believe Zeovit may believe otherwise. either way I could care less as I'm not interested in running the full systems. I've stopped the carbon and just dose bacteria. IF phophates are needed then there should be no point in continuing carbon maintanence dosing once they are at zero or very low. I dont have problematic phosphates or nitrates, I'm just doing it for clearer water and healther looking tank. the nitrates went away within 2 weeks of usng MB7 and biofuel. the biofuel has been collecting dust as of now it seems to do more harm than good.

Thanks soulsigma.

I was basing the dosages off their recommendation for Mid/High Nutrient systems (since my Nitrates seems to continue to hang at 7 ppm). Since I was uncomforatable with doing full dosages of both together, when I started the RF, I only did 2 ml the first day, and 2.5 ml the suceeding days. I have since dialed back on the MB7 as well. I did however do the MB7 alone for the first 2 weeks, and that was what in fact led me to add the RF, since after 2 weeks with MB7 only Nitrates hadn't really gone down.

Again, thanks for the info. Should I continue to dose (at the reduced 2 ml level) the MB7 everyday (along with the 2 ml of RF)?

Stephen

Yes continual your 2ml dosing of MB7 and RBF but I am affraid you will achieve min results if you are not using the zeolite al well . Nitrates should have come down to zero by now, I wat at 10 to 20 ppm for six moths after my tank cycled and wc only helped for a day or two, now that I am using the entier Brightwell syste nitrates are ubdetecable and thats with me feeding my tank 3x a day every day.
