Microbe lift special blend

I usually dose a booster shot of biospira every month to keep bak at healthy levels.
Well i tried special blend and its smells rotten, It smelled up the house like i cleaned my skimmer in every room of the house.
Is it supposed to smell this bad? Ack!!!

Yes it smells like sulfur, totally normal. IIRC it even states that on the box?

I'm interested to hear more on this. More specifically from Biologists.

Reviewing the Probido and other batcterial suppliments it seems a bit heavy on the dosing side. I was always under the impression that bacteria is like a **** roach. Given proper environment and food they will grow at very fast rates.

Why so much constant dosing? I can see once a month or so but almost daily?

I used it once before. I thought it worked very well.

If the bacteria that are in the tank are dying, then adding bacteria they will just die too. There should be no reason to add more bacteria to your tank. The ones that are in there will reach a stable population, and no matter how many more you add or take away, that population will be what it is.

Petco uses this in their tanks every week. ( I used to work there) Smells awful and they still had high nitrates. I'm not sure how well it works.

I've used it in the past - mostly to get the cycle going, which it did very well. Stuff freaking stinks like nothing else I've ever smelled although it stinks less after the initial dose. I haven't used it for anything else though.
