Microbubble benefits?

All of us have delt with the problem of having microbubbles in the display. However after reading a couple interesting threads I wonder if maybe microbubbles are beneficial to the aquarium. Besides adding oxygen to the system, IME they are also wonderful for helping remove detritus from the water column. Recently I have started adding microbubbles via a seio 620 to my 20 gallon while using a turkey baster to blow detritus from behind and on top of my liverock. When the detritus comes in contact the the microbubbles produced by the seio in the display it tends to rise to the surface and then falls into the prefilter for my remora skimmer. It works almost like a skimmer in of itself, producing skimmate that floats to the surface and then is easily collected by the overflow. I have also heard anecodotal evidence that microbubbles help remove detritus from corals by sticking to the slime coating and then floating to the surface (covered with detritus filled slime) and falling into the overflow to be skimmed out. Maybe some other intrepid reefkeepers could try something similar and post their results, if any, to either prove or disprove my findings? :D
