Midas and Lawnmower blenny. turf wars?

I have a Midas blenny that's been in my tank for over a year already. I'm thinking of adding a lawnmower since the Midas doesn't seem to consume that much greens. I know the lawnmowers are pretty territorial, but just want to see what other opinions are out there and if anyone has housed these 2 species together, thanks. Also my Midas is full grown at about 4-5 inches. I know the lawnmowers can get bigger than that.

I don't think you'll have a problem if you have a big enough tank (like a 55g should be fine). They have different territories. The LMB sticks to the rocks/glass/sand and the midas is usually in the water column.

However, if the tank you are going to add it to is the 20g xenia tank, I wouldn't do it. In my opinion, a LMB needs a bigger tank to provide more grazing opportunities and I think it will get really agressive in a 20g - even to other fish in the water column because there simply isn't enough room.

Well the Midas doesn't swim around all that much. It actually has 2 places that I see it spending most of its days. 2 caves I should say. There's these 2 rocks that when I lift them out of the water, I'd have to check and make sure it's not in them, which it usually is. Maybe I'll have to trade in the Midas for a lawnmower...but the Midas is much prettier..aigh.

I'd stick with the midas. If you want algae control, I'd get some snails. LMBs don't always eat all the algae you want it to anyway, and they often die within the first year. They have excellent personalities - real crack ups - but the midas' are prettier.

Thanx for the feedback Karid...I'll keep the Midas and pretend I'm a tang and extract the algaes myself..
