Midas blenny

In Memoriam
Got a nice midas blenny last week. He went immediately into a hole, and only ventures out when it's time to eat. He pops his head out frequently, but hasn't showed much interest in getting out and swimming.

Does he just need more time to get used to the tank? I know they are perchers and rock-dwellers, but I was hoping he'd swim sometimes....

I'd say give it time. Mine acted very similar at first also. Even though he still spends more time rock dwelling he does go swimming every once inawhile.

In the wild they mimic female squamipinnis anthias. Add a group of anthias, any species, and it will venture out more, though it will never "give up" perching and utilizing the rock hole completely.
