Got my clowns...the pair are beautiful, healthy and doing well. The question is as they are tank raised how can i get them to host an anemone. I have both a bubble tip and a sebae.....they wont go near either....all my previous clown would have hosted by now....Sanjay do you have any pointers or is this a lost cause.

I got a pair about a month ago and mine haven't found my RBTA either, in fact mine tend to hang out in the back of the tank . They are beautiful clowns though and I hope they start to venture to the front of the tank soon.

Bubble tips are a hit and miss with percs/ocellaris. They seem to be happiest in a magnifica. That said, I have seen them take to bubble tips over time. Tank raised clowns do tend to take longer to adapt to anemones unlike wild caught ones who come from an environment where they are living in anemones right away.

My wild caught female wouldn't touch BTA's for over a year. Added a magnifica and she was in it within 30 minutes and doesn't leave much since. She does now however go down into the BTA's on occasion now.

If you want your clown to associate with a nem then the best chance is a natural host. Anything else as Sanjay has said is hit or miss.

...with the caveat that the other hosting anemones tend to be much more difficult to keep, and, unlike BTAs, aren't available captive-propagated (whereas if it's a captive-produced clone, even if you lose it, at least it's still one less anemone taken away from a wild habitat and the animals that depended on it there).

Here is the magic question.....considering these clowns are hybrid captive bread, what would be the natural host? This is the main reason behind me getting a Bubble Tip and a Sebae as most clowns tend to host them naturally.....

A BTA is not the host Nem for a Percula or Ocellaris, but like you said can be hit or miss in the aquarium.
