Mike's 300 DD peninsula build

Everything was moved over Last Saturday so far everything is doing well. Have 50 gallons of saltwater made for a water change if necessary.

I finished getting the Dosing pump setup, The ReefOcto Bio-reactor and I am still waiting for my Dual BRS chambers to be delivered.

The New BK Supermarine is doing excellent. very consistent.:bounce3:

Flow issues

Flow issues

My biggest problem is flow. I have 2 MP40's on the back wall in master/slave mode that are anti-sync. They are set to ramp up and down. I am not getting enough flow to the front of the tank. The tank is LPS and leathers so I don't need a great deal of flow.

I a planning on getting another MP40 for the middle but I don't think it can be put in slave mode with the other one. I am not sure how much flow I will get since it will be placed in front of the rock and flowing through the rocks.

I was also considering getting 2 MP40's and have them 2 on each side. one high and the other low and then control them with the Apex wireless module.

Suggestions?

I did put a Jebao MP60 in the tank and it was to big and way to strong as I had it pointed to the surface for agitation. I would like to stick with the MP40's

How about two power heads on the left on the overflow end, one high and one low, and two on the right side of the overflow, same? That way you keep the ugly power heads at the least obtrusive end but increase your flow top and bottom. You may have to put a layer of heavier substrate on top of the existing sand bed to prevent it from blowing around.

I'd say sell the MP40's for some used MP60's. I have one MP60 and it reaches across the tank no problem for the coral. Makes everything sway on the opposite side. More 40's won't make them reach any farther. Nice job so far, looks great!

Dave- Cant put anything in the corners, I have the returns there and they are drilled so can't be moved. It is also a peninsula tank so I have 1 overflow in the upper middle

Hobbzz- The Vortechs are brand new so not selling them!

Maybe get 1 MP 60 instead????

I just meant that there's plenty of flow that far away. I got a used one for $375 shipped. Not unheard of, but they're usually about $400-$450 used.

Flow options and WXM

Flow options and WXM

Pickup a WXM and Vortech MP60 today at lunch. Having second thoughts that the MP60 may be to big.
I have the 40's on the back wall on opposite sides of each other running in anti-sync.
I was thinking for the 60
1. towards the top and dial it down. It would be pushing water across the top of the tank and above the rocks over to the far side of the tank.
or
2. back wall between the 2 MP 40's blowing directly on the rocks.

I did not open the box yet so I can return it. I think the MP 40 might be enough.
