I always get excited to see an update. Love the neat and tidy wire control! What are you growing in the refugium? and do you feed your tank with it?

Thanks Mrs. Music!
We have three types of macro algae growing in the refugium. The broad leaf is Sea Lettuce (Ulva lactuca) and we do give this to our fish on occasion. It's hard to see in the picture, but there is a lot of Chaetomorpha and some Olgo (Gracilaria pacifica) in there as well.

:)

Man I love the Lineatus Wrasse. That's high on my priority list of fish to get. Mind I ask, where did you purchase yours?

Awesome specimens. I am a sucker for tangs .... Yours look great as do all the others!!

Great fish list, many of my favorites.

Thanks guys!

Brett, we purchased both Lineatus Wrasses thru Live Aquaria. The second one was listed as a sub-adult female, but arrived as a nearly full-blown Terminal/Super male. Thankfully, our tank is large and we feed several times a day to keep everyone fat and happy so they get along fine. We also introduced them to the tank using an acclimation box.

They are not always in stock, we signed up for email notification on LA's site so we'd know when they became available.

awesome Mike, I like your seaweed clip how strong is the magnet?...Im kind of surprised that they dont just yank it off the glass.

Thank you! That veggie clip is a Two Little Fishies VeggieMag and it is brilliant. We were a bit dubious about how well it would work, but decided to give it a try. Our Desjardini is fairly good-sized (8" +) and he can't pull that magnet loose. Those clips that attached with suction cups are another story, LOL. :D

Nice video Mike, you have some great fish but now i wanna see the rest of the tank too.

Heheh, Brett, I hear ya. We'll work on getting some tank shots in the next couple of days. ;)

The Panasonic DMC-TS3 camera that we used to take the video is waterproof up to 12m (40 ft), so we'll be experimenting with some in-tank pics and video soon...

Great vid! I love how the clip sways back and forth a bit. Maybe that helps to entice feeding somewhat. I may have to pick on up. :)

Ooooooooo. I want an in tank video!

we're workin on it... ;)

Thanks Brett! You are gonna love that clip. :D

Just a small update:

We got an email from Marineland/Perfecto yesterday. They are sending a check to reimburse us for the silicone repair on our overflow box. :)

I have my file fish in qt right now. I have very few corals but lots of aptasia. I'm hoping that he is like your file fish. You have alot of nice corals. I can't wait to get my 300g out of storage and get my darn sunroom built...thanks for the thread!

Thanks cougaran! We hope your filefish works out as well as ours has. Keep an eye on it and let us know how it goes.

:fish1:

A quick update:

Although we have a completely enclosed canopy, our wrasses do on occasion jump and we'd prefer they not bounce off our light fixtures. This can lead to bruised lips, infection, and worse in some cases. So as with everything in this hobby, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Saturday's project was to build some DIY screens to cover the display tank. We purchased the clear 1/4 inch netting from BRS, along with the spline and roller tool. The brown aluminum frame strips and corner connectors came from Lowes. The spline from BRS was the .125 inch size which turned out to be too small for a snug fit, so we went with the .140 inch spline from Lowes:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/terryl93/5848881538/" title="nt 1127 by terryl93, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5148/5848881538_fb69acfe05_z.jpg" width="640" height="425" alt="nt 1127"></a>

BRS has a great DIY video on their site for putting these screens together. It's a little tricky at first to stretch the netting and get everything just so, but after a few minutes, we had the process down. Now we have a $40 cage for our flying wrasse :lmao:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/terryl93/5848325439/" title="nt 1128 by terryl93, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5318/5848325439_f0542493fd_z.jpg" width="640" height="425" alt="nt 1128"></a>

Awesome job Mike. That's my next project as I have my eye set on a Melanurus Wrasse. I keep telling my fish, no surfing allowed! :) Any specific tips or tricks to get the mesh lined up straight in the frames as you push the spline into position?

Nice job on the tops you'll love them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen my wrasses bounce off of mine. Sometimes he still hits the center brace on the 125 and knocks himself silly. Beautiful fish but not to bright, LOL.

Since we are on the subject... :D

I can't see from the pics but how did you go around your overflow with the screen material? I have 2 corner overflows in the back of my tank and I'm wondering the best method to screen in around those...? Any suggestions?
