Mike's 300 Double-D

We hosted our annual reef party last night and had an awesome turnout. In keeping with tradition, we asked our guests to bring canned goods to donate to our local food bank, but added a raffle into the mix. Our guests received 1 raffle ticket for every two canned items they brought.

We gave away quite a few items, including activated carbon, battery air pumps, algae sheet packs, Marine Depot promo items, Reef Geek t-shirts, a TLF VeggieMag and dip and pour containers. The two top items were a Hanna Phosphate Checker and a $50 gift certificate to Live Aquaria.

We are happy to report that we collected close to 150lbs of canned and dry goods. It was a lot of fun and a great way to give back to our community.

A big thank you goes to Pearson for donating the Marine Depot swag and to all of our fellow reefers who participated!

We also took some updated pics of the display and thought we'd share a few of them.

Looking very nice and great donation idea!

Quick Question. Do you have a siphon break in your return line as it looks pretty low in the water? Just ike a small pin hole just below water line??

Thanks guys! We really appreciate the kind words. We had a blast hosting the party and what better way to give back to the community?!? :D

To answer your question 110galreef, yes we do have a siphon break, :)

Thought we'd share a short video clip taken earlier today:

thanks for the video I really like your fish selection, they all seem to get along and are fat and healthy. It helps when you spend the time to select fish that are compatible and have the right size tank for them, its obvious you all have put a lot of brain power into your reef.

Awesome video Mike. I love the leopards.

Incredible. Very well put together. Love the leopards!

Thanks guys! The leopards are our favorites and the male is just a big ole HAM!

Terry wasn't thrilled with that last low-res video, so she made a new one in HD. :D

Beautiful tank and wonderful thread just when thru all 34 pages....

Mike if I can ask you a question what did you use to hold the rocks together was it a piece of pvc pipe?

Thank you! ...and yes they are fat, LOL!

Thanks for participating in our thread Endy0430... and we appreciate the kind words! :D

In answer to your question, we used fiberglass rods, a little bit of epoxy and a few zip ties to build the rock structures.
