millepora naming question

Just curious, is the common millepora we keep acropora millepora or millepora "species name"... (aka fire coral) or are the two names the same thing?

acropora millepora is a common species / genus name. "Fire Coral" are trade names. Both could be describing same corals but in different ways. There are a lot of trade names out there and they seem to change daily. It is just really hard keeping up with all of them.

Milleporia, or fire coral, isn't even a coral, it is a colonial hydroid sort of thing and isn't, as far as I know, seen in the hobby.

Acroporia milleporia is what we keep and has no relation to milleporia

Millepora millepora is the fire coral, seen rarely but does show up in the trade. What most people are referring to when they say "Mille" is Acropora millepora.
