Millepora's RTN for no reason

Hi Everyone,

Something strange is happening. I have 6 different millepora's in my system and about 20 Millepora frags. Strangest thing is starting to happen there is a very very slow RTN that is starting at the base and slowly progressing. The Milli's seem very happy good PE great colour. When I frag and remove the RTN they re-encrust and seem fine. I examined there are no pests in the tank all other corals are doing fantastic 30 different SPS.

SG - 1.026
CA - 410
dKH - 9
Mg - 1350
P04 - 0
N/N/A - 0

Lighting is 8 bulb T5 on a ATI fixture, flow is great have a Tunze Wavebox plus Korella's.

Tank is a little over a year old and my Millepora's have had tremendous growth over this time. Most grown from small frags to full colonies.

Any ideas?

potassium? Might want to go through everything also cross check your test results with other kits. Anytime I get stn rtn it seems water changes help out.
How big are the colonies?

I dont normally test for Potassium. I was concerned with my test results so just picked up new Elos test kits to confirm.

Colonies range from 4" across to 8" across.

Should also mention that I have many "sensitive" SPS like Red Dragon, Purple Dragon, RR Avenger, Plana, Desalwii colonies that are doing just fantastic!

hmm, not sure if I understand the problem ? you had a frag of millie, it was STNing from base up, then you fragged it, and its now fine ?

are there are Issues right now ?

All my Millie colonies one by one are starting to STN from the base once I remove the base and remount they encrust and seem to be fine.

During this time I am still getting a ton of growth and great PE.

Here are some photos from what is happening this morning.

Green Millie I have had and grown from a single stick frag (9 months) the Blue/Green Millie frag is fairly new only had it for a month or so.

Sorry for the poor picture but you can clearly see the STN at the base.

check for crabs.

the first millie is prety bleaches and starving.

I still do not understand if this was a Issue you had in the past or still do ?

is this ISsue in your frag tank and when you put it in display it encrusts ?

do does it just encrust after fragged ? in which case, Id frag them all :) haha

The colour is a little off as it was taken under Fiji Purples (early morning) When I had crabs before (I know sounds bad) they never really attacked the base I would normally see flesh removed from the branches. I will take another peek to see what I can find.

I had to take down my display for a renovation project so all my corals are in my 150 gallon frag system. The display has been down for over a year. Hopefully the 300 gallon is up and running in the new year!
