Milwaukee PH controller is triggering my GFI. ??? HELP..

The controller is fine and works normal but as soon as I plug the relay box that the Solenoid plugs into to the outlet, it triggers the GFCI to shut the power off.

My Theory:
On my old setup I did not have a GFI. The relay worked but as soon as I put the PH probe in the controller goes haywire. Just randomly goes up and down. I think there is voltage in the water escaping from the relay which then causes the probe to read incorrectly.

Can anyone confirm my theory?

If its the relay, ca it be replaced or fixed?

I am not sure I have a complete picture of how you are setting up your controller. However, a GFI C outlet will trip if there is any stray voltage. The problem of erratic readings is an indicator of a faulty monitor or controller. You can contact Milwaukee directly to arrange for repair/replacement.

Yeah - I keep reading about people with supposed "nuisance tripping" on GFCI's and tanks- and thinkign that you cant have a GFCI. Thats absolutely false- that the beginning of an indication of a real problem (probably much bigger than the supposed "nuisance trip"). If you have stray volatge you have a problem with a piece of equipment - not random nusiance trips.

In your case it could be the controller/probe setup or actually another piece of equipment and the controller/probe is acting as a return current path for something else. Either way, keep the GFCI in place and swap equipment out (as Acro said above) until you find the culprit.

for now i am not using the controller to shut the solenoid off. Currently I have the bubble count perfect and at the right PH. Maybe I will keep it this way until I can buy another controller.
