Mimic tang with Blue tang?

When you say you have a 600 g tank fine. Do you not have live rock in it?? How many pounds?? 600lbs of live rock??? What. You have a fowlr fine how much live rock???

All I'm doing is proving a point. People can give advise but should only give advise if they live by there own advise. You are the only one to post what fish you have and I respect you for doing that!! I'm not out to offend you and if I did I'm Sorry! Not my intentions. I respect people that respect the hobby but not the people that can dish it but can't take it!

Wow... I started this thread just looking for info on the relationship between the 2 fish... I didn't for the life of me think that keeping a baby hippo in my tank would cause such a problem. Even knowing ahead of time that the fish wouldn't be a permanent resident... Just tonight alone I've seen a 29gal bio cube with 2 hippo tangs for sale... Even I will admit that is not right...

But tchindie brings a valid point that has not been answered, does LR play a part here?

This is our hobby... It's what we do to relax and get away from everyday life... Can we do our best to keep it that way?

I do have 500 lbs of LR and 500g of water because I counted how many gallons went into the tank when I filled it. Lets take a look at your tank after the sand, rock, and coral displacement... My tank is almost twice as big and we have the same amount of fish. Do you still think my tank is overstocked?

tchndie -- I will say this one time -- lose the attitude. Look at the "badge" under mine and "snorvich" names.

ecomdesign -- in my 75 I have a pair of orange skunks, a blue spot puffer (( Canthigaster papua )) and a dwarf angel -- it hasn't been officially named yet, think of it as blue C. nox. There are a couple of tangs that could work in your tank, it just so happens that one that you currently have won't.

This is the problem with typing things. I'm not mad and not showing attitude at all. If that is how it is coming across then sorry to everybody! My point is that a lot of people don't take rock displacement into the equation. Anyways sorry for the posts then. I thought we were a load to stick up for other reefers. Thats all I was doing. My appologies Toddrtex meant no disrespect to anybody.

Even as a baby/juvenile?

Yes. It is just me, but I try (( not always successful )) to only purchase fish that can/will live out their lifespan in the tank that I have currently. In the past I bought fish for the tank that I planned on having... well, I still don't have that tank (( 6 years later )) and had to sell some fish that I had gown attacked too.
I can't tell you what to do, can just share what I have learned (( from my mistakes )) over the last 20 years or so.

Just stumbled across this. Wondering which mimic the op is talking about? Also where are the sizes coming from? I have seen size of 10" not over a foot. Not saying it is right for a 80, but what is the true size?

I don't plan to upgrade. The hippo was bought with the pre-knowledge that a rehome would be needed a few years down the road. I get what your saying. I am attached to my fish, with enough respect to them to ensure they do not suffer in my tank. A rehome is NESSARY for the well being of this fish down the road. I understand that some people say they plan this, but I mean it. I am ok with moving it to a different tank, even it means giving her away if it's better for the fish. I've had her for 2 years so far... She dosent owe me a
cent... She has been a pleasure to have. ;)
