I'm thinking about doing

http://www.reefermadness.us/RMDF_30_Frag_pack.htm

The pack with the zoanthids, ricordia and lps. Looking for two other people to get in on it with me from around the Berkeley area. I'll have it shipped to my work, and you can drop by afterwards, around 7PM and we'll do a round robin until all the frags are gone. ~100 a piece. Let me know and we can purchase tonight and have it by Friday!

can I have you throw in a tailspot blenny for me into your order? I wanted to order one, but no corals at the moment so my order wasn't enough for the minimum shipping.

I live in Albany/Berkeley border and can pickup after 7pm any day of the week.

I'm in san jose, so a bit far for me to drive up for. But if anyone wants to split one in the san jose area, let me know. Hope you dont mind me jumping on your thread, longlam.

No prob. I'm down to put in additional things in the order Kinetic, just paypal me in advance. No one so far is interested so I'm waiting it out. It's a total of 33 frags for around 300 so it's not a bad deal IMHO.

awesome, let me know when you're going to do the order =) I can paypal you in advance no problem. I also have the $$ already in my paypal account transferred from my bank account so it won't charge a fee. I think.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or seen..

but it was talked about I think under clubzoa or here on RC..
About pictures of corals etc. being photoshopped and the guy also indirectly saying that on his website?

I was going to purchase some coral there till I read it and heard about it...

Fwiw - I've ordered SPS frags from them, and it's not as photo-shopped as many people seem to think. The colors are pretty dead on.

everyone has to photoshop a little bit. people can make many claims, but really, it's impossible for a photo to depict EXACTLY what a coral looks like.

in this frag pack case, you don't even see the actual frags anyway =P

Oh ok, just wanted to mention that I heard about it.. Did not know wether it was true or not... but wanted it be know and the person judge for themselves... just a little FYI

I've never ordered anything from RM, but a few of my friends in LA have been to the facility. They say the corals there look exactly like they do in the pictures.

I got a frag pack from them. An SPS package. They where brown when they arrived, but colored up after a while. I wouldn't say the SPS where awsome, but they where nice. The the cost, they where worth it.

shipping stress probably changes what they look like from what they did when photo was taken as well.

even if someone photoshops the pic, the color you see on your screen is dependent on your monitor settings:) so trying to judge the color of a coral or anything else for that matter is setting yourself up for disappointment,, or a pleasant surprise:) just my 2 cents.

on another note, do they have a list of colors added in the pack or canyou choose any from their site. i might be interested in the group buy. i am in san jose but i am in sf pretty much every other day.

I think I read somewhere that if you call them, you can sort of specify what types you'd prefer to get in your pack.

I ordered one SPS from them, and the color was pretty much like the picture. I spoke with Chris a couple times (there was a snafu with the shipping of my order) and he was nice and easy to deal with.

I'm going to have to order from them again at some point, as I still have a credit there.

No worries - it's just that RM seems to get bashed about it and the people doing the bashing have never even ordered from them (not to say you were doing this):)

eileen, were you going to do a RM buy? if longlam does one first I'll probably just tack my fish onto his buy since he lives in Berkeley as well.

Unfortunately not - no group buy for me.

I haven't decided on what to get with my gift certificates as of yet.

I've been to RM many times in the past, and yes, the corals look pretty similar to the pics. Keep in mind, however, that at the time the pics are taken, the corals are probably less than 48 hours out of the wild, so chances are they won’t be representative of what they will end up looking like down the line (although they might still end up looking really good)

I understand that people are sometimes disappointed when they receive corals from RM. I think that this is in large part due to the failure to realize that these pictures are taken when the corals are at their "best" without factoring in fading, shipping, difference in water conditions, acclimation, adjustment period, etc. Corals, in particular wild SPS corals, often take a dramatic turn in appearance once they’ve been taken out of the wild. That’s not to say that the coral will not retain and/or maintain some degree of color, but to assume that your coral will either maintain its color, or look exactly like it is in the pic is a bit naïve, IMHO.

In short, do RM pics look like the actual corals? Sure, esp. at the time the pic is taken. Should you expect, at least to some degree, if not a large degree, that the coral won’t look the same once it arrives? Yes.

A lot of talk but we need to get two more on the package!! Come on people!

How do you plan to divide up the 30 corals fairly? You pick the first 10 and the next person to pick-up takes their pick of 10. I would hate to be the last one to pick-up and get the left overs.
