Mini Rant (Hardware Stores)

I'm truly beginning to hate hardware stores. I decided that I should finally get around to re plumbing my 58 this week and have made no less than seven trips to assorted hardware stores looking for the right parts and I need to make an eighth tomorrow. I will never understand why 1" pvc fittings are so scarce, why people can't put things back in the same bin they removed them from, and why pacific coast put such junky plastic fittings on their chillers (said fittings breaking caused several of the trips). I seriously need a good weisen (beer). Thanks for listening.:hmm5:

That's why I always call the little guys in the phone book. If one of the big stores doesn't have it the others don't either. They all carry the same things. The only thing i go to Lowe's or Home Depot for is wood and tools, theeasy to find/ things everybody wants.

I'm starting to become a real master at rigged plumbing. I think it's absolutely nuts the limited selection some of these "big" stores carry. I can understand that they don't want product sitting on the shelf that rarely gets used, but man! Try finding 5-Way Crosses, bulkheads on the fly, and much more.

I have not been by in a long time, but Locke Supply used to have a good selection.

Almost nothing at the 39th st store. Ace hardware and Doc Savage were the two best but Ace couldn't even tell me they carried schedule 80 fittings (they do). I found one 1" x 3/4" FIPT to FIPT in the city at the May Ave Lowes and that wasn't even in the right box. No one else has them.

well at least on the brighter side of things (sarcasim), when I go to home depot or lowes to find stuff i need for the tank, and don't see em anywhere cause somebody put stuff in the wrong spot, I get to talk with customer service cause nobody in the store seems to know whats going on and I've yet to have anybody offer help to an obviously confused looking "potential" customer.

You know, we used to really get so frustrated with HD and Lowes. But now, that I don't have one, I kinda miss them. However my local ACE is AWESOME! They have everything and more. The employees can even get creative and help me come up with working solutions. It's great to have a store that wants their employees to know a thing or two about their products.
