miniature starfish/feather duster frightened?

The local FS gave me a little star critter on a plant.

Do these things eat coraline algea? I have some pretty pink and I'm not sure if I want him eating it all up. Is there an alternate food for him so that I can put him with my larger hermit crab, away from my little reef?

Also, I got a new feather duster. Do porcelain crabs nip at them? I saw a little end piece of his tube lying on the ground. I know he's still in there because he closed up the lube very fast when I looked into the tank. What can I do to help my feather duster? Is something nipping at him or do they just drop parts?

The only ones I have seen are in my sandbed. They came as part of the live sand, and populated like rabbits. When I rake my fingers through the shallow sandbed there are all kinds of strange critters hiding there. I sure mine eat detritus.

i'm not familiar with a starfish feeding on corraline... some of those baby ones can be carnivorous, feeding on corals and such.

ohh yuck I think he is a coral eater. and hes growing back together fast. He's out.
