Mismatched tank and stand - is this okay?

I bought a tank stand online that's 14.2 x 48.8 x 27.8 inches and my tank is a breeder tank that is 36 3/16 x 18.25 x 16 15/16 inches. Will this be an issue? Can I just put some pressure treated wood under the tank and maybe use a a couple rectangular pieces of wood to support the side that the tank is bigger than the stand?

Without seeing the design of the stand we can't answer...one could have a stand that could easily support that while another could come crashing to the ground

That doesnt help as we cant see how the internal structure is nor can we see where your tank would fall in regards to that structure,etc...

Generally stands are made to support a tank in a. specific manner if the stand isn’t made for the tank it could fail.

This is the stand: Aqua Culture Deluxe Aquarium 55... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9SNMGC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I constructed the stand and put the tank on top. Here it is: IMG_0446.jpgIMG_0447.jpg

Yeah I wouldn’t trust that at all. When filled there will be a lot of weight on the back side that could tip the stand over

I would center the tank when I filled it and it was on the pressure treated wood

It would be hard to get it perfectly centered. Even slightly off center will put strain on one side a could potentially cause the tank to bend or crack eventually. Or at the very least you could build a small wooden frame to go on the bottom of the tank. That would be much safer than placing the tank as centered as you can

Yeah. I ended up taking yours and everyone else's advice and am not using the stand.. trying to return it to get my money back. I bought lumbar to make my own tank stand specifically for my tank. Thank you!

Do not use pressure treated wood as suggested up thread. There is no reason whatsoever you would use pressure treated wood inside a home and especially for a reef tank. Pressure treated wood is for exterior building with continuous ground contact.

Wood, even bare wood, is perfectly fine to get wet, as long as it dries. Wood on the ground will usually stay wet, hence the use of pressure treated wood
