My friend was just at a Frag Swap in Ohio and someone was selling miss-barred Latz clowns there. It looks like it is difficult to get full barred. I think I only see one full barred in the picture.
I dont really see a problem selling misbars.. As long as they are healthy.. $75 isnt a bad price IMO either.
It would be cool to test what makes them misbars.. is it nutrional or is it tank conditions? And then depending on which it is, what specific dietary needs are not met or what is the specific parameters causing this. I think it is nutrional but im not sure.
Yes, I received my full-barred from Karen from PIA and they are doing well. I was just amused you could get two miss-barred for the same price I paid for one full.
I don't know. According to my friend it was just a young guy who set up a tank at the OHIO swap. It was super low tech. He only took a picture since he knew I just bought a pair online a few weeks earlier.
Nobody knows the full dynamics of the issue, but water quality is a huge part and is closely followed by nutrition ... need to keep both top notch while they are developing.
Also malformations of the head can become a problem in their early development, I have heard that it can coincide with mis-barring because they both develop from poor water conditions. I have some of Karen's and they are doing great. They have full bars as well as great shape and color.
