Missing Diamond Goby

My adult Diamond Goby has disappeared. I have a 32g Biocube that has a lid with no access to the back chambers when closed. I have moved the rocks and searched beneath the sand. No signs of him anywhere. I have 2 clowns, a coral beauty, 2 camel shrimp, and some turbo snails. Is it possible that he died and this crew managed to eat him within the past 24 hours?

I have a BC32 as well. Believe it or not, I've had two different diamond gobys make into the back compartments (one passed away getting stuck on the filter at the top of chamber 2). My money is on that he's in the back in chamber 3 where your return pump is :) Let me know if I'm right on this one

He was in there. Not a happy ending. Thanks for your help. I had to look several times. It's dark back there any my tank is not on a permanent location that allows me to lift the lid up entirely.

Oh no... I'm so sorry Amy :(
If you get another one to replace him, the new one will likely do the same thing. Here's what I did: I super glued a thin strip of plastic right along the edge of the plastic cover. I haven't had one make it back there since.
I'm sorry again for your loss

Mine went missing. Three months later I saw him swimming in the tank again. He was real skinny. I can only imagine that he somehow got into and back out of the overflow

I like these goby, but does anyone ever have long term success with them? They tend to starve to death after 4 or 6 months even in 110g establish tanks?

It's hard to keep those guys long term because their various nature. For those that may not know, they scoop sand into their mouths to eat the microfauna in them. In a small tank they can decimate a live sand bed in no time and starve.

These fish are notoriously timid when housed with semi aggressive tank mates. This may cause them to never come out during feeding and cause themselves to starve.
