Missing Eel

I just got a small snowflake eel to put in with my red head goby, in my 14 gallon last night. he ate well and everything, but this morning i couldn't find him, and he is still missing. could he have burrowed under the sand or something?

Snowflake eels are notorious for jumping out, I would check the floor!!

yeah my 6inch snowflake jumped out last night when i left the hood open, thank god was there to pic him up

he couldn't have gotten onto the floor, the tank top is completly sealed

I don't know much about eels, but my firefish can jump into the filter chambers of my 14gal biocube. I've found him on the little rim that runs around the inside (when you lift the cover) too... so maybe check each section of the filter just to be safe.

I have a biocube too, and that is exactly where he is! Any suggesstions on how to get him out?

so did you find the eel?? I also had one that jumped out while I was gone to work.. and guess what.. he didn't make it.

I got him out, and decided to take him back to LFS.

good idea in taking him back to your lfs. he probably wouldn't have survived in your tank. SFE's need a tank of at least 55 gallons. i keep mine in a 75 gallon FOWLR. and if you didn't know all ready, they can reach a length of around 32 inches.

yep, he is gone for good. they let me trade him in for a cleaner shrimp
