Sad day!!! My snowflake has died :(*
It was laying across the elegance coral. Is it possible it stung it really good ??? Cause every thing else is fine and ok. *Also would it contaminate the water ? I just noticed him there when I got home to put the *new coral in. He was alive and looked ok this morning before I went to bed at 2am.
Water levels are good and just 5ppm of nitrates. Sal 1.025 , ph 8.0, no ammonia or nitrites. Cal,alk, all in check.

Had him for about 6 months now and is fed krill every other day 2-3 pcs.

The coral wouldn't be able to do anything to it. Krill is a bad primary food. Fresh or even frozen shrimp is much better.

Sorry to hear that. Dont give up on an eel. IMO they make a reef tank.

They di need something like raw shrimp and squid. Plus, it is important not to feed them that often. Once or twice a week. They eat large amounts then not again for awhile. There intestines are not set up for continuous eating. My guess is that is what killed him not the elegance.

Wow , ok I was told and read to feed krill or fresh shrimp and squid. But I thought, only -2-3 pcs every other day wasn't much. Damn, that sucks . Knowing I may have caused his death. I even rinse I RO water the food and then feed the others as well. But the puffer and clowns only like PE mysis shrim. Picky fish. I feed them every other day also. So should I do the same for them? Instead of every other day to every 3rd day ?
Like I do my corals.

Also I feed my BTA the same krill. Every 3 days 1 pc or should I stop and feed it fresh raw shrimp or squid?

Thanks slapshot and tat2

Oh I forgot about the possible water issue. Do you think the skimmer and filter will pull the bad out from him passing on. Or should I do a water change?

If you want too, but with your water params, it didn't do any damage. A good bio-filter can handle short-term decomposing of a fish. Eels (and other larger carnivores) are an exception to feeding schedules. There are lots of opinions, but I think most fish should get about 3 small feedings a day.

That schedule is fine for the rest. The best for fish is debatable and really depends on the fish. A large carnivore like a puffer I would feed less often but if you have anthias you need to feed several times a day. My eels which are four years old now get fed once a week unless they become pests. Swimming around or trying to bite me when I'm working on the tank. For example I have a three foot snowflake that I feed raw shrimp and squid until he stops eating. My 4 foot zebra will eat four or five whole shrimps or two large squids once a week and is very happy.

good to know..... I appreciate you guy's info. I want to get another Snowflake, but it will be a while. I really am bummed that he is gone. I have hand feed him, and I miss seeing him not in there playing around...but thanks again for the replys, and help...
