mixed clam tank

hey all

I have a 30 gallon tank I'm using as a clam only tank, 16" deep with a 250watt MH 14K, argonite sub with some LR for the corcea's. Any clams it's not possible to have, other than tank size as I will start upgrading in time? I have a 5" corcea, 4" corcea, 4-5" squamosa, and 5" maxima. I want to have some of all the trid. clams, love'em. All okay in same tank?

They will be ok together. You can mix and match all you want. :)

If you are looking for help with Pyramid snails then the best way is to not introduce them. The problem is that the snails are nocturnal so come out when the fish are sleeping. Some people have had success with Six-Line Wrasses but mine doesnt do a thing. I have seen my Scotts Wrasse go after them though but again, theres no way a fish will totally eradicate them. The only way is to make sure the clams are cleaned of the snails and egg sacks when they are first introduced. If you do have them then you have to constantly take the clams out and brush them clean.

hi rockhead,
i also have a 30 gal clam only tank with a mix of 18 clams in all with room for a few more, i am also changing my 90 gal tank to clam only tank i have gone clam crazy.....

hey guys, thanks.

Can I just dip new clams and QT'em, or should I brush them with toothbrush and dip? Maxima's, corcea's on rock, but what about squa's.Read somewhere they also like crrevices? Rest on soft substrate? Fish for any pests or algae, and like seeing a scooter or some fish(single only) Ideas?

I don't think I would automatically dip a new clam. Do a close inspection and QT. Dipping is very stressfull, and I feel like it should not be done lightly.
