mixed dwarf angels?

JELWYOMING
I have been keeping reef tanks now for about 13 years. I have several hundred gallons of tanks now. I just turned my eel tank into a FOLR tank with some small but semi agresive fish, ie tangs and such. I have always tested the boundaries with my reeefing...for example, I have a mixed reef community tank that I've kept for about 8 years now with a GBTA and a breeding pair of Clarkii's along with a mated pair of percula clowns. They all stay at their respective ends of a 150g tank.
My question is this; has any one had success in keeping more than one dwarf angle in a 100g tank? I have a real nice elbi dwarf angle in this tank, but would love to add a flame angel. I don't want to risk it if the margin of success is small. Please respond only if you have hands on experience with this. Thanks

I have a coral beauty and a flame in a 200. Little to no aggression between them. I did however introduce them both to the tank at the same time when I upgraded.

Are they physically about the same size? I have only had the Elbi in this tank for a month, so I thiought about adding the Flame soon. Have you had good success with the Flame angel?

With plenty of live rock...it should.be home okay...i have a flame and pygmy and a coral beauty without any issues in a 210 but they came from a 140. I have an african flameback in qt and will add in another two weeks. Jus make sure u qt first...good luck!

I have 100lbs of LR in this 100g. They have lots of places to hide. How long have you had yours living together? Sometimes it takes a while for problems to come up.

They are about the same size.

Great luck with my flame. He ate anything I put in the tank (frozen mysis, gel foods, pellets) frome day 1. Just hopping he doesn't develop that hunger for my corals.

I have had good luck in the past reducing aggression with my powder blue tang by moving around some rocks after a new addition.

It's been about a month for me.

The only time I see aggression is when I only put one piece of nori in, the CB chases the flame away.

That's great. I plan to put him in my FOLR tank, so the coral won't be an issue. I will put my trimmings from my reef tank in there just to see what happens. Well, maybe I will try a Flame with this Elbi.

You would have better luck if they were introduced at the same time but I would not be afraid to try it, if it was my tank...

IME, When you introduce them at the same time, when they are both small, or when they look nothing like each other, it goes pretty well. I have always kept multiple angels in my tanks. The only real problem I ever had was trying to add a small Half Black with an existing - Half Black/lemon Peel hybrid (and several other angels). The hybrid relentless beat the hell out of the new Half Black and I had to remove it.

As always, Angels have their own personality. Be prepared to remove if need be...

I am really glad to hear that most of you have had pretty good luck with these in larger tanks. i will give the flame a try when I can find a healthy one. AS you can imagine, out in Wyoming, marine fish are a bit hard to come by other than online.

In my 65 I currently have; Flame, coral beauty and a multicolored. They have been together for just under 2 years now (( prior to my move, the multicolored and coral beauty were in a 58 along with an venustus dwarf angel )).

There is some minor chasing here and there, but it lasts for about a second, shortly after that they are picking at the rocks next to each other.

Same.with everyone chasing here and there only... had them.over a year now...once hierarchy is establish then they should be fine...

i have a multibar, coral beauty ,flame, cherub, flameback with also a bellus with no issues what so ever & they were all added one @ a time . only once in a while my flame chases the coral beauty but nothing major the flame likes to show that he's boss

That is great. I am seeing all positives here. I wonder why they advise against it. There must be some bad cases. But it seems like it is better than 50/50 towards the good side.

To add, prior to my move I had 3 dwarfs in my 58, and 3 in my 75; a flame pair with an C. deborae.

Here is an old video of that 58 -- the venustus dwarf (( yellow and blue )) is currently in a 40 breeder as the only angel -- IMO/E, this dwarf is a bit too shy to be with other dwarfs, its growth really took off after I put it by itself.

Around the 1:45 mark I put in some NLS pellets, hence the reaction.

OK, I'll post my bad experience. I had an established C. Heraldi, very pretty yellow fish. I added a C. Deborae, placed it in an acclimation box for 4 days, the Heraldi seemed to pay it no mind in the box. I released it after lights out, next day all seemed OK for a bit, then the Heraldi started chasing the Deborae relentlessly. I couldn't stand it and removed the Heraldi. Maybe the Heraldi would have let up if I gave it some more time, but I just couldn't bear it, or maybe a Heraldi is one of the more aggressive dwarf's. Tearing the tank apart was NOT fun. JMHE.

How big was your tank? Thoughts about adding a coral beauty to a 280g tank that already has a flame angel? Big enough that even though the flame has established his territory that the 2 can hopefully live harmoniously under 1 "roof"?
