Mixing coral/clown gobies?

I seem to always get the opposite information when it comes to this topic. The books and general articles state they are aggressive and territorial. Yet I have talked to a number of people who simply tried and said there are no issues. One of which is a guy who has a 20 or so and has about six assorted species of clown gobies (one each), all added within about a month and a half of each other. Is this a fluke, are these cases destined to fail long term, or is this just another case of people regurgitating what they have heard without ever testing it?

My recollection is (I don't have them) that they irritate SPS corals from egg laying and perching.

I was wondering the same thing since I have thought about adding several of the different color forms to my 180 reef. I did have a friend that kept the yellows and greens together in a 90 gallon tank and the green pair was dominant and did some chasing of the yellows. I am wondering if this is the typical experience for this species.

I have a yellow one and he perches on the SPS which is preventing them from expanding their polyps. The corals still grow just do not look nice. Aggrevates my big time, just can not catch him.

There seems to be very little information on these guys. What I have read seems to be almost the exact same thing over and over. One thing repeated all the time is that although they may bother the acropora, it is minimal and the acropora will recover. But it seems like every article I find is just an echo of the last and every other article. I am only planning on the current pair of greens in my 29. The only other fish I am planning on is a pair of percula clowns. But if they are more compatible than these articles and people (usually people who haven't even tried it) make them out to be, I may want to try something like a pair of citrons or something.

I have a mated pair of Yellows, a Green, a Red and a Black in a 30. There were also 2 Citrons in the tank for a while, they would harass all the others and harass the crap out of each other, but never to the point of any harm.

I took them out because the Yellows would not spawn with them in the tank.

The Citrons are still together in a friends 30 and are still harassing the crap out of each other.
