Mixing growout and broodstock

I am thinking adding a couple of extra broodstock tanks to my growout system I am building.

Is this ok to do or should they be kept separate?

Looks like it is working out ok for woods having the broodstock tank connected to the grow out tank.

I think the main reason people keep systems seperate is in case of disease or illness, that way not wiping out everything.
