There is no set rule. In Chemistry, they teach you that aggitation is one of the many ways to increase the ability and speed of something to dissolve. So technically, you would get better results stirring for an hour.
So, how has your arm been?
Just kidding. The choice is yours. But leaving it to dissolve is the biggest factor.
I will be always tired after the 5 mins or more mixing kalk. Today I didn't mix it, I only put a power head and will leave it there for about 12 hours. Maybe it will mix better then me... hehe

My mixing consists of putting in my measured amount of kalk powder and then dumping in the water, which mixes it around a bit. Then I start a slow drip right away.
Does anyone have a link about kalk powder. I haven't gotten into it and need to. I would like to read up on it. My ph is always good and my cal is fine but I need to read about it.
I use pickling lime(3 Tablespoons per gallon(concentrated)). I put it in one gallon containers and shake for about 30 seconds. It sits in the airtight container overnight. Then it is dosed in my 1 Quart Chinese Food Container Doser(pictured next to the skimmer):
