mixing salt in tank

I'm starting a new tank. It's 150g and roughly 184g total. So, should I mix the salt first and then put it in or mix in tank? Mixing in tank would be a lot easier, just need about 25' of 1/4" line.

You should mix in a separate container. It will be best to mix and let set for a little time so the salt is completly devolved. If you mix directly in tank it could give you one reading of salinity and then will be different alittle later. I think it makes it easier in the long run

mixing in the tank for start up on a new tank is fine, just have your powerheads going and temp at 78 degrees or so and let it mix for a longer time to make sure it is fully mixed before testing and adjusting, but after you have put in LR coral, fish inverts ect. then you will want to mix in a seperate container or the salt will burn anything it touches.

+1 on this. First starting up is fine - after livestock is added, mix in separate container.

If you mix in tank, be sure to add sand after your SW is completely mixed. Otherwise you will trap pockets of freshwater that will take a lot longer for SW to permeate into.
