Mixing salt

How long do you let your new mix sit before using it? Can you leave salt water without aeration for a week? I have a 30 G container but I don't need to use all 30g for a water change.

I usually let the salt mix overnight with heat and aeration. A week should not be a problem

Do you have a powerhead in the 30G container? If you aren't using one now, I'd add that to your equipment wish list. It's a good idea to let the freshly made up water mix with a PH for a day or two before using it.

I agree, everytime I add w/o 24 hours, I see a decline in my ph, so I now use a heater to match the tanks temp, add a powerhead for water movement, and test the new water's ph before using......Just my thoughts.....

I would not leave it much more than a week but at least 12 hours with a powerhead and heating.
