Honestly, he could do it in Ti, but I'm not paying the kinda $$ for it right now. At least till Ti prices drop a bit, a HUGE bit. There's 3 different companies saying the can unlock Ti pricing, but they're not doing it as of yet.
I just receive a phone call from Fedex that they have a package for me from mcmaster.com. It the 10' PVC pipe that I requested for the quote. The weird part is I haven't pay yet. Have you ordered from an online store and get the stuff before paying??
I just built one from a kit. Took about 20 minutes. Nice.
I don't think I will be able to use it in the main tank because it is big - almost Tunze big. But, in the 180 sump and 150 mixing container, this thing will rock!
Less volume on the intake side would reduce the flow, but I don't know if anyone did an experiment to find the ideal length. I give mine and inch behind the prop.
The ideal shroud length for me has been around 2 to 2.5 inches
The longer you make it the more intake slots you can add BUT.... That also creates more vibration and noise as well.
