modding an ASM G3

I have done the mesh mod and gate valve mod on my skimmer, improving the skimmate very well. I think I am going to do the recirculation mod next.

My first question is should I feed near the top or bottom of the skimmer?

Should I feed with some sort of power head like a maxi or with the overflow which is about 600 gph?

Lastly I was wondering about an idea I had. If I get a pump with a good head pressure and gph rating, would it be beneficial to feed the skimmer with a beckett
so it would be a recirculated beckett skimmer?

i wouldn't add a beckett

if you do the recirc mod i would feed the skimmer about 1x to 1 1/2x your total water volume per hour. so if your tank is 100gal i would get a feed pump that flows 100gph to 150gph. i think the recommended place to feed it is about 2" to 3" below the start of the cone. you could feed it from your over flow but you would have to have a valve and a bypass so you can control the amount of flow going into the skimmer

I would absolutely feed it off the overflow. Like mbbuna said, you will probably need to "t" off and valve so you can controll the volume going to skimmer. This will increase skimmate and eliminate the need for another pump (see also: power savings).
