Moded Maxi Jet on Timer?

Hi RC,
I am considering putting my sure flow moded maxi jets on oscillating timers.

Has anyone done this before, I feel like I have read you are not suppose to do this because the impellar gets reversed or something.

Is anyone doing this. Right now I am running them 24/7.

the maxi are prone to start backwards and don't normally work well with rattling at the restart. I would not be surprised if someone had figured it out, but ditching the modded MJ was the better decisions I did. After a year, the metal shaft corrodes and even the cheap hydors work better

Hmm, a year is not much use out of the modded maxi jet.


I have a bare bottome set up so I need lots of flow, but I don't want to pony up 100's of dollars on a power head.

I have one modded maxi jet, and I was considering getting another one for a maxi jet I have sitting in the closet. But I would really like to use them on my ACjr timer.

Maybe I will go with a koralia 4 instead.

In my 75 I have two SureFlow MJs, they are both running off the wave maker part of my ReefKeeper I. They have been running that way for over a year, and I haven't had any issues.

I got mine Modded SureFlow MJ on timer and had no problem, just occasional rattling sound at startup.
