I thought this site was about reef keeping means and methods. Over 20 post on page 1 for items FOR SALE. How does this forum allow such things to continue to go on, people chopping up corals, selling egg crate by the foot, is this not the opposite of what this forum is attending to be about??


Since the goal is to pass information to grow the hobby!!!!

There are more add than anything on this forum rather than information on the hobby it self.

Moderators do your job and clean this place up!

People want to know and learn about the hobby not look at classified add,m if people want something go to your local store!

The reason there is so many wanting to buy and for sale ads is because it is not only a great way to provide the means for people just getting into the hobby to get equipment cheap but also a great way to meet ppl first hand

This particular forum is focused on a regional area. I wouldn't judge ReefCentral's content, value, or purpose by a single area. That would be like judging whether you're a very good person by looking at just your pinky finger - it's missing the point.

One of the great things about this online community is connecting reef keepers with each other. Often one person's excess is exactly what another person needs.

Egg crate? Do you know anyone who sells black egg crate in the area? I'm glad if someone buys some extra to share.

Cutting corals up? If you've got a healthy reef you would know that pretty soon you need to do some pruning. Do you throw it in the trash and sell a little to someone getting started (thereby reducing that taken from the wild).

People aren't allowed to just jump on and sell. There is rule that you must have at least 50 posts over at least 90 days that are substantial and contributions to the information on the forum.

If you posted a question looking for information I'm sure that you would get a response. I'm sure that if you searched for information on about any reefkeeping subject you would find it. I'm also sure that if you want to complain you will find a reason to.

Try posting with your real login if you want real conversation.

You don't have to look at the for sale threads if you don't want to, it's a free world, you can look at thousands upon thousands of other threads over dozens and dozens of forums with great info if you choose to do so. Or you can get upset over nothing and not bother coming to RC. It's completely your choice.
