Modifying drain for more flow

Hello,

I want more flow in my tank but when I increase the flow now lots more water gets pushed down my overflow and because my current drain cannot handle that amount of water it gets pushed down the emegency drain and open channel drain (bean animal arrangement).

If I split the drain into two will this solve my problem?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Splitting still uses the same pipe so I doubt it will help.
Can you open a valve?
If not then a bigger diameter pipe would be in order.

The only way to get more flow is be having a full syphon if you don’t have one already and eliminating flow restrictions. Every bend, valve and joint is a restriction.
Your best option is to add a flow pump inside your tank.

No..splitting the pipe does not increase flow...

Why do you think you need more flow?... Return pump (flow through a sump) should be quite low or its just inefficient... Pumping a ton of water and not doing anything to clean it at a fast rate is just a waste of energy..Most filtration/processing means/methods are quite slow..

If you want more flow in the display add more powerheads

This what I am trying to say I have upped the flow in my tank put it pushes more water down my overflow but because my drain can't handle all the flow it pushes down the open channel and emergency, I want to stop this from happening so I need the full syphon line to be able to handle more water.

Open the full siphon valve more if possible....
Reduce return pump flow rate...
Increase full siphon pipe diameter..
Reduce any restrictions in the piping..

Those are basically your options..

How did you up your flow?

I increased the flow on my wave makers

Aim your wavemakers differently if its causing some sort of problem...

But they really do not change the flowrate through the sump at all...
In order for that to be possible your return pump needed to increase its flowrate so what you think is happening is not correct

I agree with the above statement. The power heads will not increase the flow from the tank to the sump for more than a minute. They may cause swells that can flow over into the overflow. Like all swells, the bottom of the swell will be the opposite of the peak.
