i started with a few

now have over 50

alright I have tried to kill these things with kalk paste, Joes juice and hot vinegar

every time I try to kill them they come back 2 fold and I am looking for a whole tank treatment

I have zoos and a brain

I would like to get something that will kill them and won't kill everything in the tank

any ideas

You would do best to get a Raccoon Butterflyfish and put the majano rocks in a tank with that fish for him to clean one or two at a time. Or, put the raccoon in the sps tank and let him go to town....very effective.

I have a few as well. In my old 125, the tank was overrun with them. I had some softies and pulled them out. Added a raccoon butterfly and in 3 - 4 weeks, they were all gone. It was amazing. Of course a few must have been hiding as they are now in the larger tank.

I just hit one this morning with Aiptasia Control and it is totally gone and it was in the middle of some of my favorite zoo's and they are fine.

THESE THINGS ARE EVERY WHERE ( I catch them floating at night)

I guess the raccoon will have to do I was hoping for something else

ONly works on smooth rock and is a pain in the griss. I would just get a Raccoon and watch him closely.

you might try reading thru the following thread

majanos from hell (from sps forum)
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1202166&perpage=25&pagenumber=1

in that thread there are all sorts of ways for eradicating majanos...
might take into consideration they can also get into your plumbing as well... the sooner you get on top of it the better... longer you wait they can take over... (not a 'simple' pest like aiptasia).

good luck

regards

Farmer do you have a huge amount of aiptasia too?? I had both before I got the Butterfly. It seemed like, if you had one you had the other??

Not tried it with manjos but I had a bunch Aiptasia I got a needle and injected them with kalk paste then added 4 or 5 peperment shrimp.

2 weeks later all were gone and aint seen any since, and that was 4 or 5 months ago.

I have them too, if I can pull out the rock they are on, a pencil butane torch works wonders :). I have thought about a butterfly also, but if I want it out of the tank later on, it would be a PITA

me and rock work dont get a long

i will get rid of them -- i am going to setup another tank and get a raccoon

and put peppermint shrimp in the other and not feed them (they will eat them if they dont have any food (i have seen it)

i had racoon butterfly ate aptaisia, majano's and a few hairy mushrooms than i traded back to lfs when he was done, fair warning though that was one of hardest fish to catch.

Aptasia control worked for me. I had half my 75g. full of them before I found out what they were. Thin it out, half saltwater half aptasia control. It still will kill them and at $10. a bottle it will last longer. I would just cover as many as I could find at one time with no ill effects on corals. Every 2 or 3 days I would do it again. Took a long time to get rid of them. Also bought a lot of peppermint shrimp. They are supposed to eat them also. Good luck and be patient. Paul

Also they are attracted to light. If you could put light on one side of tank they will migrate. If you leave the lights off for several days they will start floating around. Paul
