Mojo Help Please

Anybody know how to get rid of these pests. Injecting like atipsia doesn't seem to work. The peppermints dont seem to be interested either. THey, the mojo's, are starting to multiply. HELP!!!

I have been using JOe's Juice on mine. It works pretty well, but it sometimes takes multiple injections to completely kill them.

I make my own Joes juice = heat up kalkwasser and mix into a thick fluid that is sticky - works for atips pretty well, but seems to have little effect on the Mojo's. The raccoon sounds interesting , but have heard the can really damage SPS, LPS, etc. NO Guarantee they will eat the Mojo's when other polyps are also available.

It's a shame that these are pests... I think majano's are very nice looking. If you're having a hard time killing them, how about pulling the rock and blasting their foot with a torch? Not to mention torches are pretty cool!

I think if you do a forum search you will find that there is no proven way to get rid of mojanos. Yes, a raccoon butterfly will eat them, but it will also eat anything else on the rock it wants, including corals. Using a raccoon involves removing rock to a Q tank with the butterfly.

Good luck. Some mjanos multiply like the plague, some barely mutiply at all. If you have the former, you are in for some bad times.

hey... i wasn't joking. If you can get the rock out of the tank it would be quick and easy... no messing with kalk paste, and next to no damage to the rock.

yes the torch will work... muriatic acid may work as well.... they are bad news (one of the reasons I suspect elmers took down the large ref display)

Depending on how many you have at this time, my solution (i had 4-7 last year) was to remove the rocks and carefully chip them off with hammer and screwdriver. Obvisouly, you have to be able to get below the stem!!

But this was 100% effective for me

Ok- I really did not think this was a big deal - until now. I guess I will have to start moving rock to Q- tank. Then get the coral off the rock that are attached to the rock , then decide how to kill the darn Mojo's. BOOO!!! - the rock was purchased when I did not know what Mojo's were from a local store- hmmmm... the owner is one the "experts" of our area. It took this long = over two years, for them to multiply to levels that are a concern.

i had one once and i used stop atipsia and never saw it agian they seem alot easier to hit than atipsia i am suprised you are having any trouble it took alot longer for me to get rid of my atipsia but good luck

Well- I purchased a small Raccoon Butterfly ( I think a Red Sea as color his colorings are beautiful ) a few weeks ago and am keeping him in my isolation tank. I am feeding him one rock at a time that has any atips or MoJo's on it. He eats them immediately, and I wait a day or two to change the rock out and supplement his diet with brine and other frozen foods. So far he will not eat any softies, ricodias , or acros (sps). He did begin to pick on my lobophilia (brain) after eating all the MoJo's off the sides of it he could find, so I had to take that coral out pretty quickly. He will definitely eat any Zoos or button polyps. I haven't tried other LPS (hammer, frogspawn, elegance) corals in my tank yet to determine if he will eat them or not before releasing the Raccoon in my 90 home show tank. All corals that are in danger of being eaten will be transfered to my office tank before I move the raccoon over form the isolation tank to the 90. I will keep the Raccoon until I have no more Mojos or atips for a while and find someone else that wishes to purchase him from me who has a FOWLR or will do what I did with him. I also have a torch (thanks -J ) if the raccoon fails to completely clear the tank of pests within a reasonable time frame. IF anyone is interested in the Raccoon when he is finished with his assigned duties at my place please contact me. I paid $60 for him ( he does eat brine and other frozen food) and I will only be asking the same price I paid from a fellow refer. I expect him to be available in about three weeks or so.
