Mollies/killifish with algae?

Hmmm, Destin. Honestly, I dont know. I have not spent more than a few days on the gulf side in my whole life. I would imagine you could find them since that area certainly is within their natural range. The question is where is a good spot to go!

A quick update, I bought 2 pairs of mollies from the LFS yesterday and tried acclimating them to saltwater over six hours, things didn't work out too well though. One was dead this morning, and two of them were hovering near the surface and didn't look happy so I've moved them over to a freshwater tank. One looked happy enough that I left it in there, so we'll see how she does. During the brief time they were in there I saw them picking at some of the algae that's been growing on my sand and dead grass blades so I think they're a good addition if you can find ones that came from higher salinity originally.

That's unusual. I've acclimated many mollies in less than 8 hours from FW to full SW and always had good survival. I'd be suspicious that something was wrong with them before hand.

Was this a "real" LFS or a chain?

My experience has been this makes all the difference although I know there are exceptions. The fish department in a nearby Walmart(10 yrs ago) used to have killer setups and got really unusual stuff and the tanks looked cared for. When that manager left, it went back to the normal scene, dying goldfish and guppies, etc. etc.
All we have here in my city is petdepot, petco and walmart.
Petco seems to be pretty decent though and they actually have saltwater fish.

This is a decent LFS, but i don't usually buy freshwater fish there so it's possible that they do have inferior freshwater stuff. These guys were going from full fresh to a tank that was at 1.020 so it sounds like they should have been ok.
