Molting question

In the past 2 days, all 6 of my husbands shrimp have molted. His cucs were peeling last night, and even the base of his bta is peeling. We did a water change on Sunday morning, and other than that, nothing has changed. What causes this?

Shrimp molt pretty steadily as do the cucumbers.

I do not think them bta is normal but your tank is probably too new for an animal like this. (1 year is considered acceptable by most pro's)

I have never seen my Anemone's "molt"

Its not in my tank, its my husbands. He has 6 nems, and the bta is the only one that is doing this. All the others are fine. His foot was damaged when he got him on Saturday, so maybe thats why. The nem in my tank, I got 3 weeks after the tank cycled, and he is perfectly healthy.

you should probably include information like "His foot was damaged when he got him on Saturday" as it is pretty relative to the question. He is likely going to die anyway as most do not recover from this condition. Pristine water quality is your best hope for its survival.

You may as well post exact water parameters and water change schedule as well as this is equally important.

Also keep in mind that these animals live to be 100 years or more in the wild.

Young tanks < 1 year just typically do not have stable enough environments for these animals.
Survival rates for wild caught animals is around 2% over 2 years. Pretty sad commentary for our hobby IMO. (and most store bought are wild harvested IME)

It is hard to say if the anemone will do well or not. If conditions are good and the bta is in good health otherwise, it may recover from a pedal laceration. BTAs are more 'tolerant' in that respect than many of the other anemones in the hobby.

The tank has had regular water changes since it was set up. Its a TBS tank, so when the ammonia or nitrates were\are even barely detectable, he did a water change. I cant tell you how many he did, the most recent one was on Sunday morning. I dont know what the exact parameters are, and I dont have time to check. Hubby tested the water while I was out of the house on Saturday, and all he said was that everything was fine. He is out of town, so I cant ask him what the numbers were. He got the nem from a local reefer. When he got to her house to pick it up, she didnt have it off of the rock yet, so she removed him in a hurry. I dont know how she removed it, or what the nem was like when he got to her house because I wasnt there.
