Monti Cap (??) frags

Someone had seen my Cap and made me promise to let them know when I fragged it.

I'm sorry, but I really don't remember who as it's been a couple of months or longer. (Heck, I'm not even sure it's a Cap :) )
Anyway, I had to frag it last night as it was growing pretty close to some of my Acros. There are actually 2 frags, 1 frag is about 1 1/2" x 3", the other is about 3 1/2" x 4". The frags taken are from the top, growing towards the back of the tank in this older photo. Both are showing the "plating" growth pattern, not the "cup" type growth you usually see on Caps. The color is deeper and richer now that I started feeding more & quit using PO4 remover.
(Off topic for Rob.....notice the water clarity. No ozone, just carbon through a reactor.....pumps are running too)

dave is that orange out of my old tank? can't remember what you got from me. do you notice how it seems to grow downward? funny how light effects the growth of corals. your water is very clear and the tank looks more colorful than other pics from the past.
dave carbon topic again. are you running the canister full? how often are you changing your carbon? I used to run a full canister on my 180 and changed it once a month. probably should have more often. I was getting really lazy at the end of my old tank because I was so unhappy with it. I did notice that after a week or so the glass needed cleaned more often. my real hold up on it I guess would be wanting to find a fitting to go from 1/4 inch tubing or even 3/8 tubing to the hose on the reactor. I really wish they had a different way of connecting pipe to it. I can't stand using hose in my tank. on my reactor I tapped the main pump and use 1/4 inch vinyl tubing thats blue.
where are your pics of your equipment and how you have it all running I am interested to see how you are doing it.

Guys, it's no longer that pink.....has gotten deeper & richer in color like I mentioned above. (Of course, if you want it pink just run some phosphate remover & quit feeding...that will lighten it up again :D )

Rob, I actually got this as a frag from someone here in Tampa about a year and a half ago. That downward, spreading growth is strange, never saw that before. I'm not sure the lights affected the growth as it's right in the middle almost directly under the (black) center brace.

As far as carbon, I run 1 cup of TLF HydroCarbon 2 in a PhosBan reactor 24/7. It get changed out every month, and is fed by a MJ 400 turned down so the water coming out of the reactor is just a small steady stream. Both the MJ and the reactor have 1/2" fittings so it was easy to run 1/2" tubing from the MJ to the reactor. I then have the outlet tube from the reactor empty into my filter sock so it catches any small pieces of carbon that may get through the reactor. (Some always does right after changing out the carbon no matter how well I rinse it)

David, so would you still classify it as a pink, even though it's changed a little bit? I have some orange cap, and just would like to make sure they are not the same.

If its not orange, like I said, I'm interested and can come by whenever.

hey dave shaun used to have some corals do that and then move them down and they would start growing up again. it was wierd because everyone says you can't mimic the sun but we are doing something sometimes but I have no clue what. he was running 400 radiums at the time.
your carbon is my exact old setup I just have to make it neater this time. I already have too much under my stand I want space to work this time around.
