Hey all,

is it possible to keep monti-cap under the stock lighting (2x27 watt) lighting? I have never kept SPS, but i here this is one of the easier to keep species, and really one of the only ones that i like.

Thanks,

Jeff

How tall are your tanks? Because from what you said you are both over 8watts per gallon. not that its a great way to measure it but to compare the stock 12 Ap is only 4.5

Yes...I have 2 plating montis (green and orange), along w/ a branching monti in my JBJ 12g Dlx w/ the stock 2x24w PC lights. I've got them placed up high and they're doing very well. I actually just had to frag the green one because it was starting to shade a bunch of stuff in my tank.

awesome, thats just what i wanted to here. For those who have had them, how long have you had them, did they lose color? Will regular water changes be okay, do you have to dose calcium? any other requirements?

thanks,

Jeff

Quite some time, maybe 8 months. Amazing polyp extension;growing about normal. No loss of color. I've made only 1 water change in mine. I dose 2 part, my coworker doses Aragamilk.

Any pictures?

......How did I know that was coming?

Here's a link to the post on our local website where I got 'em. Pics of my coworkers' tank is at the bottom. I'll get some pics of the orange when I get back to work; the purple was damaged in a rock fall when he was on vacation.
