Monti Cap

I have a lot going on with this Monster coral. It has grown quite large in the last 5 years and now has had a bad reaction to a change from Giesmann T-5 to ATI. Did it slowly over two months, but there's color and tissue loss. When fragging should I dip, etc. Looking for some advice.

If you're certain the change is related to the lighting change (i.e. you didn't add anything that could have had hitchikers on it around the same time), I wouldn't worry about it. I would inspect the monti carefully (magnifying glass or reading glasses) to see if you find anything that looks out of place.

Have you thought about putting egg crate over the top of your tank to diffuse the light for a couple of weeks to help light acclimate your corals to the new lights? I prefer doing that when I change out my metal halides rather than reducing the lighting period.

Are all the other corals doing well?

I'm not sure it was the lighting and I was told high Mg can affect them. I haven't dosed Mg for some time. With being at the surface flow was lousey.
When I fragged it today I found a lot of mahano down deep. Haven't added anything lately. I did save a couple of pieces and got store credit for all the frags. The rest of the corals and clams like the new lights. Its time to start over with the remaining pieces.
