Monti Digit or have I lost my mind?

This was sold to me from one of our more respected coral vendors as a Montipora Digitata. I received it today and it sure doesnt look like any digitata I have ever seen. I emailed them saying that maybe they sent the wrong corals. The reply was "once they grow the more they will resemble a typical digitata colony". Have I lost my mind or do I need to go back to the newbie status?

Does not look like a typical M. Digi. Possibly a hydnophora? Maybe a Montipora stellate?

It's a Monti that's been growing in bright light and high current. The ridges and white tips are indicative of a fast growing Monti in high current.

I have a Jedi that almost has Digi like branches. It sits 6 inches in front of an MP10W in 800 PAR. It looks nothing like it did when I got it. Corals are highly adaptive to their environment

After much back and forth they finally said a mistake was made. The problem was they didnt look a the pics I sent until it escalated some. Was told that when they open up on Monday I will contacted with a solution.

Glad to hear a resolution is in the works.

Well.. Vivid Aquariums now is saying that one of the two identical frags MIGHT be a digitata. They have seen more corals than most of us would see in a lifetime and its sad that they are trying to convince me of something like that. They are backing out of a refund for the other (still want me to pay for the $50 shipping). Oh well lesson learned.

That's some bs, if it were me I'd tell them they can either send a refund for the wrong piece or have a full refund sent for them from a credit card chargeback. You'd have a refund from them for the piece in no time. Letting things like this slide just insures they'll keep doing it to other people imo, helps clean up the hobby to make vendors take responsibility where it's due.

Today I was contacted by Vivid. Someone higher up the chain over-ruled the employee I was dealing with and refunded the money for my entire order. Vivid did come through as I always expected they would. Thumbs up Vivid Aquariums for finally doing the right thing.

Still a pretty shady experience, it was handled terribly. Glad everything worked out for you this time.
