Monti not plating?

I got a plain old green monti 7 months ago and its encrusting like crazy with a nice white rim but it's not even beginning to plate. Alk: 6.4 ( Dosing right now) Cal: 420 Mag:1200. Lighting: 250 watt reefstar halide. Flow: sitting right below the flow of my wp-25 in the middle of the tank. Any advice?

Most of the time they will encrust until reaching an edge, then plate from there.

You have branches coming out. It looks similar to a green elk horn . It might not be a plating Monti .

you're probably right, it looks a lot like the elkhorn monti on the ORA page except not as big lol. That just gives me an excuse to buy a plating monti

Mine has pumps and grows around tube worms etc. It looks like branches, but they weren't; could be the same.

Mine encrusted awhile before it plated.
