Monti turning brown

I have had my red monti cap for about 2 1/2 years and it has always been a beautiful piece in my tank. 6 months ago I changed over from pc lights to a T5 setup. All of my montis caps are now dying. Everything else is doing great but my red monti is turning brown and then white dead spots show up and spread really quick across the top, my yellow monti completely died within a few days and my once beautiful green purple rimmed monti is now brownish grey with white dead spots on it that are spreading. None of the montis were close together. I have done sevral water tests and even had my lfs do a complete whater test just to verify my accuracy. I have not added any new corals to my tank for many months so I doubt anything was introduced that would be eating them. All my params were good. The only thing I changed was the light. I went from a 4 X 96w pc combo to a 4 X 54w T5 set up with 2 Geismann aqua blue+ and 2 actinic+ bulbs. The aqua blue+ are said to be in the 11,000k range. Could it be the lights? Could my montis be getting too much light now? Please help as I do not want to see another monti die a needless death.

What are you dosing for alkalinity and calcium? What are your parameters?

Sounds like you may have some parameters that are jumping quite a bit - or possibly a phosphate/nitrate problem.

Caps are generally hard to kill, but for me, they are one of the first coral to show stress from alk swings/nitrate/phosphate issues.

my last water test params were:

Temp 78
salinity 32 ppt
SG 1.024
Nitrate 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
pH 8.0
Amonia 0 ppm
Calcium 480 ppm
Magnesium 1420 ppm
Alk 9
Phosphate 0 ppm
My lfs did the same tests and came up with close to the same results. He used a different test kit though. I use API and Salifert tests. Everything else in the tank is doing great even some acros that are supposed to be harder to maintain.
