montipora cap. issue

ok my red cap. is getting a spongelike growth all under at its base. in fact the "growth" has syphon/breathing-like tubes on it like lots of little sponges have. its grey in color... light grey. the thing that worries/confuses me is there is actually a calcified growth under this thing. e.i. looks like sponge till touched. its slimy even... i'd love to get a pic, but my cam on my phone isnt working... ok i ran it over :headwallblue: BUT *crossed fingers* im hoping someone might know what it would be and if its an issue,... it IS in fact encrusting underneath quite a bit now. i tried a FW dip for about 30 seconds but nothing... ah yes... the area it touches underneath is also making the cap. turn white (loosing color) i'll post a pic tomorrow for sure when the wife gets back with her... good phone lol.

sounds like a sponge to me, growing in the shadows cast by the cap... have some on the underside/underneath my green stylo... no biggie imo, take it out and scrape it off perhaps if it worries you... GL!
