Hey all.

I just picked up a rainbow Monti and the past few days it looks like the brim of it has been turning white/ looks like its dying. Its under a 250w halide. Good flow. Very good color. Its been in my system for about 2-3 weeks now. All my other spa have been thriving.

Any thoughts? Para's are in check

The rim should be white that's the new growth

Mostly, but not always and I feel as this case falls in the" not always" category

I picked up a rainbow monti frag and Im having the same issue. My buddy actually pointed out the white edge on the cap and Ive been watching it closely. It doesnt appear to be receeding. Got my fingers crossed. Generally Montis are super easy to keep. If all the other SPS is fine I wouldnt worry to much but def keep an eye on it.

Lol you must have grabed that at cmas ? I picked one up there and it's doing fine. Mine looked to have white on the brim and then turned blue. The rock it came on is totally encrusted and looks like it's time to mount it. To bad I can't do the same with the sunset monti the orange is turning white closer to the center. But it may be because of my long spined black urchin. He did some gd damage to a tenuouse I got there too.

My Monti grows when the tips are turning white, and as long as my other corals are doing fine everything should be okay. My biggest worry now is over crowding..

Ya i picked it up at the swap. I hope its just new growth. Everything else is fine and i know the system is bug / pest free. Thats why im lost. /pray haha

I just checked mine and it's doing the same thing. I would'nt worry. Seems nice and happy.

ok quick question i just mounted my rainbow monti with 2 part epoxy.while pushing it on the rock it snapped in half. should i glue it along the fresh break or let it grow back over time?
