Montipora color shift

I got this mont. at my LFS. It was a lavander color. It went tan in my old tank. Now I have my new tank up and running for a while. It changed to pink. What can I do to get the lavendar color back? I think the lights at the store are the same as mine. 150 watt 14000K MH HQI.

Hmmmmmm i have read alot about montipora and i think its maturing. Do you drip kalkwasser? whats the PH in the tank? Temp? Your tank looks pretty clean so i am sure you are on top of your game. I think its just maturing like fish due. I honestly dont know how you would get your color back.

I did use Kalk until a month ago then switched to Kent Tech CB. That's when it really started to get bright pink. The temp is usually around 78 and 80. The pH is between 8.3 and 8.4 calcium is 400 alk is 3.2 no detectible nitrates or phosphates.

I think it looks great the color that it is! IME, high levels of Alk and Magnesium tend to color up corals quite a bit.

I see some nasty little flatworms though in that second pic. I battled those a while back with my other tank with not so good of an outcome. :(

Take care of them while you can.

Oh, I have about ten billion flatworms. Not too bad.

I'm looking for some kind of biological control. I don't like using chemicals. I guess a blue velvet nudi or a spotted mandarin would help.

Thats mike for ya always willing to give ya some free gifts when you buy a coral. (I wont tell by the way). In this case it looks like the free gift was flat worms. As flat worm removal i recomend a cryptic six line wrasse which are much less aggresive than their cousen. Also spotted maderin are known to eat flat worms. Flat worm exit would be out of the question being as there are so many it would crash you tank. some pep shrimp will eat these worms too.

As for your mont well first of all pink in better than brown and second of all it was not in mikes tank to long and the guy he got it from (the doctor) has all his corals crazy colors for some reason that all settle down to a diff color out of his tank. Be happy with the pink. Or do a million water changes and have a zero nutrient level in the tank. Good luck

I already have peppermints, and a regular sixline. I guess I need to give them time to work their magic.

Blackheart give me a few months for the mont to grow and I'll give you a frag if you want.

Well read my threads on flatworm exit :(
Great drug if you dont have a tank full of loved ones.
Down about 600 bones from treatment.
