Let me put this out there for comments....I have been attacked by another predator...Monti eating Nudis....they are in my main system but have had the pieces I broke from my colonies in my frag system and they have not been attacked now for 2 weeks....First off I would never sell these or trade these without fully disclosing that I had the nudis and have treated all "frags" with the iodine/reef dip/toothbrush treatment...question is....would anyone still want them?...

Get online and search for a Halichoeres melanurus wrasse, they are the natural preditor for the monti eating nudi's. Make sure its that specific wrasse.

Unfortuneately, they will eat absolutely everything out of your tank while they are at it.

Liveaquaria.com has them as a fish only wrasse and this is what they say:

It will eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails, protecting corals and clams. In addition, it may eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. It may also eat parasites off of tank mates. When first introduced into the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp should be used to entice this fish to eat. Regular feedings should include a variety of prepared and live meaty foods, such as feeder shrimps, flaked foods, and marine fish.

heh, yep they are meat eaters like all wrasse but this species is the only known wrasse that is confirmed to eat the monti eating nudies. having been through a total tank loss to those dang flatworms if I had known about the wrasse I would have been happy to buy one and wouldn't even blink as it ate tubeworms, feather dusters, shrimp, fireworms or anything else for that matter ;)

craig, what I believe it says here "it will eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails, protecting corals and clams" is that it will protect the clams and corals from fireworms and the pyramidellid snails as I know those pyramidellid snails are clam preadators. Just a bit strange the way they worded it....Thanks for all the info

didn't look at the link, but no they don't eat clams they will eat the pyramidellid snails which do eat clams. There are species of wrasses that may nip at the clams mantel like all wrasses each one has to be taken as an individule. even though the species might not be reef safe there has been reefers that say theirs are.

My bad, mis-emphasized their words. Makes more sense, now. Didn't understand why they were then not categorized as reef safe, but probably for ornamental shrimp and such. I might have to get one...I can't see any, but a couple of my montis have receded the way they are mentioned to attack...yellow coris won't eat them?

cschweitzer, I don't know about the yellow coris wrasse, I can only vouch for the Halichoeres melanurus as it has been proven by reefers on this site that I know personally and trust their word to eat monti eating nudie's

Anybody know where to find them locally for a decent price? Not bad on liveaquaria.com, but I don't really need anything else right now and shipping would double it.

cschweitzer, I've never seen them locally :( I supose that OB or SITC would be happy to order them.

Craig...If u order one...will u order one for me...locally I mean...If we cant find any...maybe we can go in on a order from Liveaquaria.com let me know...thanks
