Moonlights? White or Blue?

Hey guys,

I was looking at getting some lunar links for my moonlighting purposes and I was just wondering if there is advantages or disadvantages to going with white (closer to actual moonlight?) or blue moonlights?

I have a small (2 ft) section of some cheap blue moonlight led's on my 8ft tank right now and I like the effect the blue led's provide, but is there really a difference between white and blue moonlights other than personal preference?

Not sure but I have both. Very very cool effect with the surface agitation of the water as it causes a shimmering effect where the blue and white appears to be alternating shining on any given point on the rock and substrate, all over the tank.

Do you have a row of both or do you alternate or what? Is there a purpose for you having both? Extra cash layin around? :smokin:

On my 75 i have blue----white----blue. It looks very cool at night with the shimmer, and will cause some things in your tank to "glow". They are a nice addition for asthetics.

well considering moonlight doesn't actually exist, i'd say any is fine, but id go with blue for the nice fluroensence

Plenty of light "exists" when reflected by the moon; illuminating the ocean during the night hours.

I'll work on a picture but you'd need a video to see the shimmer. The blue/white alternating shimmer isn't very natural but it is cool.
The leds are dirt cheap so it wouldnt be a matter of any real cash to do both colors in a DIY project.
But to answer more directly, the fixture has both built in. It's an Outer Orbit and has 3 panels of LED lights, 3 white and 3 blue on each panel so 9 of each. Each color is on its own switch so I have them on their own timers as well but I do run them at the same time most of the time because of the very cool effect.

I have blue on one tank and white on the other.

I like the blue so much more than the white. You get the glitter lines with both, but only the blue create the fluorescence.

My green polyp toadstool looks wicked fluorescing at night!
