more efficient use of Chaeto?

I read a post, from live4physics I think, where he found Chaeto grew fastest by far for the first 5-6 hours of illumination.

While looking for the spectal action of Chaeto, (never did find it:( ), I did find this study that seems to agree with what live4physics found.

So I'm wondering if giving Chaeto 6 hr. light then 6 hr. dark nonstop would provide better growth than giving Chaeto 12 hr. light then 12 hr. dark nonstop.

Hmm, interesting idea. But wouldn't that mean for people that keep their lights on 24/7 the Chaeto would be growing slower and slower and slower?

I've heard of fish breeding programs and coral prop. That run lighting 6 on - 6 off And growth of the fish and coral are double by creating 2 days out of 1.

I believe that photosithisis needs needs at least a 6hr dark period too. ( a recent thread i think.)

So if 5-6 hrs. are best length of time for growth, and the photosithisis cycle does need 6 hrs off???

The the double growth would probly work for alge.
