More Flow?

I'm wondering if I need more flow in my tank. I've watched some videos, mostly from BRS, and their corals are always really inflated and "flapping around in the breeze". Even the Acans are moving around. I don't seem to get that flow in my tank and am wondering if that's why my corals don't look as puffy as many I see online.

I'm running two MP10wES pumps at 75% max speed on Reef Crest in a 55g tank. Maybe my rock work gets in the way or something? I'm only asking because I would think that 3 pumps in a 55g would be overkill.

Theoretically, two of the MP10wES pumps should be more than enough flow for a 55G Mixed Reef.

Do you have the pumps paired up as Master/Slave? I would try turning up the flow a bit for a few days to see how your livestock responds.

They are set in Master / Slave and controlled by my Apex. They are set on Anti-Sync.

It just seems weird to me that I need to run them at such a high % and still don't seem to be getting a lot of flow.

Spyder,

It is best to place the pumps in an area where they can provide unobstructed flow. You can also try running your pumps in sync mode to see if this makes a difference.

Without re-arranging my rock work, I don't know that I can without moving one to the back glass. The left side space is barely big enough for one pump so I can't move that at all. It's a Marineland cornerflow so the overflow blocks almost the entire side. The right side is blocked with my higher rock work.

Would it be stupid to have one on the left side and one on the back? I've never seen a tank like that before.

I'll try running them in sync and see if that makes a difference.

If you look at this BRS video about 2-part, you can really see the corals moving around in the flow. The Acans are moving around and the frogspawn looks like it's going to get ripped right off its skeleton. My tank has nowhere near that much flow. I'm wondering if that could be part of my coral problems.
